Holly Hunter is an American actor and producer who is well-known by her outstanding performance in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The movie Piano has won several awards for her which included an Oscar. She started her career as an actress on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. From her early years, she has been passionate in the field of acting. She portrayed Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school play. Her hearing loss was in one ear following a bout of the mumps virus, however she did not permit this to deter her drive to become an actress. At college, she was a theatre student before moving into New York City in pursuit of her dream. She met Beth Henley in an elevator and they collaborated to make Broadway Crimes of the Heart which was Hunter's debut film. When she moved into Los Angeles, Hunter tried to find films to play. An supporting role was secured in Swing Shift. She has since appeared in a variety of shows and TV films over over three decades. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
